As a new local Post Office in your area, Harbor Mail would like to announce the latest stamps we have available. The United States Postal Service officially unveiled images of its commemorative 2011 Forever Stamps. Among those commemorative stamps, and now available at Rockwall Harbor Mail are, the 150th Anniversary of the State of Kansas stamp and the Ronald Reagan stamp, America’s 40th President.
The 150th Anniversary of Kansas statehood commemorative stamp feature artwork by renowned commercial and fine-art painter Dean Mitchell.
This stamp was created specifically for the US Postal Service and is a symbolic artistic snapshot of Kansas that encapsulates many of the state’s most outstanding features: history, industry, agriculture, and pioneering ingenuity. The main attraction of a windmill pioneered in America during the mid 19th century stands in the foreground of the stamps picture. In the background stand five modern wind turbines that demonstrate continuity and the forwarding looking nature of the modern Kansas economy. On the commemorative Ronald Reagan stamp the Post Service recognizes the centennial birth of Reagan (1911 – 2004). As America’s 40th President, this stamp is one of many centennial events taking place across the nation in 2011 to commemorate Reagan’s life and legacy. The stamp art was by Bart Forbes of Plano, TX and had been created in oil wash on board. It is based on a photograph of Reagan taken in 1985, during his second term as President, at his beloved ranch, “Rancho del Cielo,” near Santa Barbra, CA.
